Supporting Families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond
What is a doula?
A doula is a professional trained in childbirth who provides emotional, physical, and educational support to an expectant or new family. The doulas purpose is to help have a safe, memorable, and empowering birth and postpartum experience.
Hello, my name is Angelica Benavides. I would like to welcome you to my page. Here you can learn a little bit about me and my journey into becoming a doula.
Angelica is a Birth and Postpartum doula, being the mother of three she understands the transition into motherhood. Angelica’s fascination for pregnancy and labor began when she supported her sister’s birth, in that moment she witnessed the power and strength of the human body during labor and birth for the first time. She came into birth work through a close friend (a doula) who supported her through her own pregnancy. She decided to become a doula because she enjoys educating and helping others feel empowered. Angelica has trained in comfort measures, pain coping methods, and relaxation techniques. Providing non-judgmental support of a family’s choices is her goal. Angelica believes having a good support system during labor and the postpartum period is key to a successful transition into parenthood for both mother and her partner.
Angelica's goal is to provide all families with the support they deserve. She believes that every pregnancy and experience is different. "Everyone comes into a pregnancy with different ideas, convictions, and desires. Everyone has a distinct idea of what their labor will be like". Angelica believes birth is a normal and natural process that our bodies are perfectly designed to experience.
